Centre for Ecosystem Restoration Kenya restores Kenya’s native species and provides ecological education to visitors and community members. Over the past 15 years, Centre for Ecosystem Restoration Kenya has successfully replaced exotic tree plantations with native trees that tower 30 feet tall. The forest now shelters lianas, orchids, and a species-rich understory, and provides a model for other restoration initiatives to follow.
These hurdles include access to native seeds — and to accelerate forest restoration and biodiversity initiatives across Kenya and East Africa.
